After reading a few articles about women in gaming my confidence could only be reenforced by my findings. The gaming industry has always been male dominated but it looks like times are changing which is great news for me! Reasearch showed that in 2005 fewer than 10% of jobs in the gaming industry were filled by women but now that has increased over the years to 15% world-wide with some teams having more female developers than male.

In 2009 MCV revealed the average female salary, working in the UK gaming industry, was 33,260 GBP per year, 2000 GBP higher than their male colleges in the same industry.

Women are becoming increasingly more sought after in the industry as the benefits of a mixed teams are more realised. Mixed gender teams create more varied games and in turn will attract a more diverse audience.
